What Your Schedule Will Look Like:

  • Standard Hours: 10:00pm-6:30am, Monday-Friday

Job Summary: Working as part of the Operations team, the Lead Canning Line Operator is responsible for leading and delegating appropriate work responsibilities to line operators to complete daily production tasks and achieve goals following safety and quality standards.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead line operators in all activities in accordance with operational policies and procedures, including set up, and safe operation of all canning line equipment including but not limited to: filling, seaming, packaging equipment, pumps, tanks, industrial fork trucks and other machinery/equipment.
  • Develop, monitor and report on operating measures including general business, quality, safety, operator performance, equipment, etc., to ensure effective results.
  • Coordinate daily scheduling of the team in the absence of the department manager/supervisor.
  • Develop, coordinate and oversee paperwork flow of the canning line processes.
  • Adhere to safe work practices following GMPs, MSS and ensuring sanitary conditions to ensure product quality is maintained.
  • Assist with training, motivating and the development of operators consistent with canning operations and safety practice; Make recommendations for additional training for gap areas or performance needs to maximize productivity.
  • Perform all duties with strict attention-to-detail to ensure product is packaged properly and efficiently, meeting all standards and guidelines.
  • Report and document all facility and equipment repairs and any other issues immediately to Maintenance or Beverage Manufacturing Manager.
  • Report and communicate all production and personnel concerns to supervision in a timely manner.
  • Ensure safety and quality measures are met at line start up and throughout the production run; Conduct basic packaging quality control checks for daily production runs.
  • Work cross-functionally with all departments in the absence of supervision, including but not limited to: Quality, Account Management, Warehouse, Operations and Maintenance.
  • Work directly with supervision to ensure the completion of time sensitive and critical tasks.
  • Complete daily shift report and be able to effectively communicate issues at shift handoff in the absence of supervision.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What We’re Looking For:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 2+ years of machine operating experience, preferably on high-speed packaging equipment, is required
  • 2+ years of previous experience as a lead or supervisor overseeing a team is required
  • Previous experience in the food/beverage industry, with an understanding of food safety & quality requirements, is strongly desired
  • Previous experience working in a bottle or canning facility preferred
  • Proven success in maintaining and fostering effective relationships and communication with key support functions to improve operations and ensure effective support of the manufacturing process
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint is required
  • Knowledge and ability to understand, operate and troubleshoot high-speed production line equipment
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends as needed to fulfill production needs
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; talk or hear; reach above shoulders; use hands to finger, handle, grasp, pinch or touch objects, controls, tools or equipment; kneel, crouch and use foot/feet to operate machinery
  • Occasionally required to lift, carry, move, push or pull materials, product or equipment up to 50 pounds; bend at the waist; climb or balance
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, up to ten (10) or more hours in a single shift
